Directions: Learn to type at a speed of twenty words a minute by practicing for ten minutes a day. Chart and record your performance in your portfolio.
  1. Type for ten minutes a day using a typing tutorial.

  2. Improve your scores each week on a weekly 5 minute typing test.

  3. Type 100 words from a newspaper article in 5 minutes.

  4. Save your typing tests in a folder called typing as ttest02, ttest03...

  5. Create a typing home page.

  6. Create hyperlinks to all or your word processed typing tests. You will need to use a .doc suffix on your hyperlink.

  7. Create an excel spreadsheet with a Test, Total, and WPM column.

  8. Save the file in your typing folder as typing.xls.

  9. Use the formula =b2/5 to create a WPM column.

  10. Create a typing performance graph and post it on your typing home page.

  11. Use paintshop pro to create a graph.jpg.

  12. Size the image at 400 X 400 pixels.

  13. Use the < img src="graph.jpg"> command to place the image on your typing homepage.

  14. Link your spreadsheet to your typing homepage. Use <a href="graph.xls"> as your hyperlink and file name.

  15. Create an expository paragraph that describes your typing performance.
