Thousands of Clallam County Public Utility District customers living north of Sequim were without electricity after three power substations were knocked out. But power was restored by 11:45 a.m., to the area from Sequim Bay to Agnew said Roger Hosto, utility operations superintendent.
No major road problems were reported in Clallam or Jefferson counties. Neither the Hood Canal Bridge nor the Tacoma Narrows Bridge sustained any structural damage, according to the state Department of Transportation. The northbound lane of U.S. Highway 101 was closed west of Tumwater due to a landslide. Crews were planning to build a temporary lane by evening in order to open the roadway.
This winter’s dry weather likely prevented any major landslides in Clallam County. Ciarlo said. The Port Angeles High School girls district tournament basketball game in Puyallup scheduled for Wednesday evening was postponed to tonight. Small cracks were found in Clallam Bay School, but school officials determined they didn’t pose a serious safety risk.
