Directions: In this module, students will discover more about light by using a Laser. To identify the functions and components when using a Laser. To have the opportunity to answer questions and conduct simple experiments through the process of a laser beam. To design a simple laser activity and give a brief explanation of their findings. They will have an experiment using the laser beam and reflection; a written evaluation is required.
The module contains several lessons and the assessment of the student's progress. Students will be asked to complete all worksheets, take a photo of students using the Laser, and place their work in the Technology Engineering portfolio.
  1. Locate and read, “Lasers, The New Technology of Flight”. Read pages 2-5.

  2. Locate the paperback book Laser-Light Amplifications by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation. Now complete the laser worksheet using the Laser-Light Amplifications by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation book as a reference. Save your worksheet to your portfolio.

  3. Complete the “Quiz: Fundamentals of Laser Technology worksheet” and save to your portfolio.

  4. View the video “Laser Technology” and take notes for future reference.

  5. View the “Lasers” PowerPoint Presentation.

  6. Locate the laser technology software from the instructor. Review and take notes to answer any key questions.

  7. Locate the Laser Turkey Shoot information sheet. This information will provide you with a step by step procedures.

  8. Complete the design phase of the Turkey shoot and save to your portfolio.

  9. Upon completion of the turkey shoot experiment, locate the book, Way to use a Laser. Select and complete an experiment. Then write a brief evaluation and save to your portfolio.

  10. Complete the “Post Test” and save to your portfolio.

  11. Locate the digital camera and take photos and save to your portfolio.

  12. Complete the “Module/Project Critique sheet” and save to your portfolio.

  13. Utilize the final oral worksheet to discuss the completion of the project with the instructor.
