Directions: Explore the future of air transportation and Hot Air Balloons with a picture-taking device in this module. Students will design and build a Hot Air Balloon that will float and travel across the shy. Students will be introduced to the simple concepts and principals of the history and construction of a Hot Air Balloon. In this module, you will select and work with a partner.
 

This module contains several daily lessons. Lessons have steps to be completed before moving on to the next lesson. It will be to your advantage to follow the steps provided below. When completing worksheets or tests, make sure you save to your portfolio.

  1. View in the Sci and Tech program, "Hot Air Balloons," Read and take notes.

  2. Locate the power point presentation, "Hot Air Balloons," Read and take notes.

  3. Locate the Pre-Test, "Hot Air balloons Objectives," complete and save to your portfolio

  4. View the Hot Air Balloon video. Takes notes.

  5. Located of the Internet you will find interesting readings @ www.aibf.org, www.howstuffworks.com, and www.obs.org.

  6. Locate the instruction sheet, "Balloons," read and take notes. This will guide you through the project.

  7. Before designing the balloon, refresh your memory of various "Balloons," and what the process is for a creativity design.

  8. Begin the design process, locate the instruction sheet, Tasks #2 - #5 and see instructor.

  9. Locate the Lighter than Air Flight Booklet, "Design and Construction worksheets," read and take notes.

  10. Begin the construction phase; obtain supplies and view the "instruction sheet" on gluing tissue paper. * Remember there are four sections per gore and eight gores to your balloon.

  11. Locate and review "safety procedures."

  12. Continue with the construction phase of the balloon.

  13. View the "instruction sheet," for the procedure of putting the top on the balloon.

  14. Begin a simple check of all seams, and gores are symmetrically.

  15. Check with instructor for approval and begin a simple test. If holes are found use extra materials for the repairs.

  16. Begin the construction phase of the opening reinforcement casing. See the "instruction sheet."

  17. Locate the Digital camera, take a photo and save to your portfolio

  18. Prepare for the Test day.

  19. Locate the Module / Project critique sheet, complete and save to your portfolio.
