My name is Jackie Jay and I am senior at Port Angeles High School. I live in Port Angeles, I have a loving family, I am a runner, and I am completing an Associate Arts Degree at Peninsula College. I plan to attend Seattle Pacific University at the end of this school year and major in medicine or law. While I am excited to leave home and attend Seattle Pacific University, the Olympic Peninsula will always be my home. I have been priviledged growing up in Port Angeles where I live with my loving family, but I also have a second home close to my culture in Neah Bay. My grandfather is a retired physical education teacher and my grandmother a world business women. The two of them maintain a home in Neah Bay which has allowed my brothers and I the opportunity to be close to our heritage. For this I am honored and grateful. My passion outside of family and school has been running. I have run cross-country and track throughout High School and Middle School. I most recently completed my fourth Half-Marathon in Seattle and consider my sport a life-style. For my coaches that have supported me along the way, I am again grateful. Outside of sports I play violin, enjoy travel and reading, and work part at a day care. As I graduate from high school and head to college I plan to prepare for a career in medicine or law. My general focus is a career where I am productive in my community and able to help people. Nothing could be better than curing disease or giving people a new start in life. I am eternally grateful to my family, my sport, my music, and those that have helped me along the way. No matter what challenges I face, my goals will always be there shining as my north star. I can not imagine a day without one of these things in my life, so I try to be thankful every day for the opportunities that have made me who I a today. |
