Directions: Welcome to the module of Co2-Powered Dragsters. In the module, design principles will be used to build a CO2-powered dragster. The CO2 dragster will then be tested not only against vehicles made by classmates, but against the clock. Awards will be given in various categories for the construction phase and the performance of the dragsters.

This module contains many daily lessons. The lessons are created in a specific order, with objectives and procedures to follow. The success of this project will depend on if you follow this format.
  1. View the study handout, "CO2-powered Dragsters," read and take notes for future reference.

  2. Locate and view the power point presentation, CO2 cars," takes notes.

  3. Locate the Pre-test, complete and save to your portfolio.

  4. Locate the software program, CO2 Design phase," read and take notes for future reference.

  5. View the "information sheet," read and take notes.

  6. Begin the design process, locate the "thumbnail sketch sheet," use this as your worksheet. Save to your portfolio.

  7. Locate your Thumbnail sketches, from your portfolio; continue to work on them. Save to your portfolio.

  8. When finished, contact the instructor for approval.

  9. Select your design; continue to work on a rough sketch with detail work. Save to your portfolio.

  10. Locate your rough design, match your rough design to "Wood Block patterns," sketch your design to the wood block patterns. Save to your portfolio.

  11. Begin the final drafting design. Locate your rough sketch patterns, make corrections and improvements. Make your final design patterns, using the wood block patterns. Have a side and top view for your final design. Contact the instructor for approval. Save to your portfolio.

  12. Locate your final design, locate the dragster kit from the instructor, check to make sure it contains all items, view the "CO2 car list,"

  13. Place everything except the wood body blank back into the bag, with your name on it.

  14. Locate the various working tools, scissors, masking tape, pencil, and your working design.

  15. Carefully cut out the side and top views of you are working drawing and place them on the wooden body blank, to be traced or tape to the body. Line up your pattern so that CO2 cartridge chamber will not be cut into.

  16. Mark your axle holes both in front and in the back, using a pencil or pin to mark the wood.

  17. Now begin the construction phase; contact the instructor for questions.

  18. Continue with the construction phase.

  19. Locate and complete study sheet #2, save to your portfolio.

  20. Continue with the construction phase and view, "Shaping phase," read and take notes.

  21. Locate and complete study sheet #1, save to your portfolio.

  22. Locate and complete study sheet #3, save to your portfolio.

  23. Continue with the construction phase, view the "finishing phase," read and take notes.

  24. The "finishing phase," is an important process of completion of the car. Read carefully.

  25. Locate the Post-test, complete and save to your portfolio.

  26. Locate the digital camera and take photos of your car, save to your portfolio.

  27. Make sure your CO2 dragster is ready to race.

  28. Locate the "Grading sheet," and submit the worksheet with the dragster, to the instructor for evaluation.

  29. Locate the Module / Project critique sheet, complete and save to your portfolio.
