Name the assignment cause_effect.
Save the document in the writing folder.
Use a proper heading. First and Last Name, Class
and Period, Date, Assignment Title.
Title the assignment Cause/Effect.
Focus on an experience that embodies the Cause
and Effect principle.
Use the narrative structure, including many of
the usual elements of
story telling/plot: Character(s), Setting, Conflict, Drama (Rising Action),
Climax, and Resolution.
Discover the “So What?” in the story (The
writer's contemplation of the
meaning of these events in retrospect).
Use a fictional quality even though the story is
true (Memories are fluid). A
good writer will “paint” the picture with descriptive language- details add
depth.
Use your voice. More personal reconstruction of
the events and their
impact will reach the reader. Remember, “No tears in the writer, no tears in the
reader”- Robert Frost.
Introduction will introduce the situation-set
up. The body will detail the events in an interesting and meaningful way. The
conclusion will reflect on the incident. How might things have been different?
What have you learned (So What?)?
Align your text to the left hand side of the
page.
Utilize block paragraphs, skip a line between
paragraphs, and use single spacing.
Use a single basic font that is size 12.
Insert 1 space after periods and commas.
Control standard writing conventions such as
spelling, grammar, and punctuation and use them with accuracy and when
appropriate. Minor errors must not distract the reader.
Review all parts of this grade sheet before
submitting the assignment for a grade.
