Directions: Building a Cardboard Boat is all about meeting "The Challenge." Along the way you will enjoy encountering and dealing with many small details. Look ahead to the satisfaction of knowing you accomplished something that most people won't even try, building a boat made of corrugated cardboard.

Begin with an objective for the Cardboard Boat project. Maybe you want to build the fastest boat or perhaps you are more interested in one of the awards for design or eye appeal. Maybe you want to win the best-dressed team or the team spirit awards. Perhaps you want to take home the Titanic award for the most spectacular sinking. Your objective should be to the very best job you can and have fun while doing it.
  1. Locate the "Guidelines for Boat Designs," take notes for future references.

  2. Locate the examples of "Boat hull bottom types," this will guide you to the shape you may want. Take notes.

  3. Locate the "Tips for Boat Building," take notes for future references.

  4. View the "Cardboard Boat Rules." These are the rules, if you want clarification, see instructor.

  5. Located on the web site, www.gcbr.com, you may get some questions answered.

  6. View worksheet, "Where to get supplies" take note for future reference.

  7. Locate and view the "Enrichment Ideas," these are basic vocabulary. Read and take notes.

  8. View the digital photos of past cardboard boats, a good opportunity to see different ideas.

  9. Begin the design process and the gathering of supplies.

  10. Locate and view the "Drag Boat Design Assessment Form," this is a guide for the grading process.

  11. Upon completion of the design process, the construction phase can begin.

  12. Locate your notes from "Tips for Boat Building," perhaps this will you in the construction phase.

  13. View the "Finishing worksheet," Read and take notes.

  14. Locate the Digital camera for photos of your Boat, save to your portfolio.

  15. Locate various paddle tools and life jackets for the trip to the lake, return your " permission slip," to the instructor.

  16. Prepare for the Test Day, have fun!

  17. Locate the Module / Project critique sheet, complete and save to your portfolio.
